Belirtileri:
Baş ağrısı, hafif ateş, ciltte kanama, titreme ve hastaların üçte birinde belirtisi olmamaktadır.

Tetiklediği hastalıklar:
Akciğer hastalığı, akut böbrek yetmezliği veya hemorajik ateş..

Tedavisi:
Farelerden insanlara geçen hanta virüsünün, kesin bir tedavisi yoktur. Virüsü taşıyanların büyük bölümü kurtarılamıyor. Bilimadamları bu virüse karşı aşı geliştirme çalışmaları sürdürmektedir.

Kuluçka dönemi:
Bu virüsün kuluçka dönemi 12 ila 21 gündür.

Önlemler:
-Farelerden özellikle tarlada çalışanlar tarla farelerinden uzak durulmalı.
-Farelerin bulunduğu ortamlarda çalışırken eldiven kullanmak ve maskeağızlık takmak gerekir.
-Bulaşma şüphesi

Between 22 January and 1 May 2009, a total of 25 suspected cases of HFRS were reported. Blood samples were taken from 23 patients and tested for hantaviruses. The remaining two patients had died before sampling, so they are considered as suspected cases. We confirmed that 12 out of 23 samples (52.2%) were positive for hantavirus in IFA and immunoblot. However, no positive result was found in the plasma/serum (n=14) and/or urine samples (n=6) by RT-PCR method.

The epidemic curve is shown in Figure 2. The mean age of laboratory-confirmed patients was 56 years (range 22-78), the male to female ratio was 6:1 All 25 suspected cases were admitted to hospital. The fatality rate among these hospitalised patients was 8%.

J Infect Developing Countries 2008; 2(1):3-23.

Hantaviruses have the potential to cause two different types of diseases in human: hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) and hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS). HFRS, initially described clinically at the turn of the 20th century, occurs endemically in the Asian and European continents, while HPS, recognized as a clinical entity since 1993, represents the prototype of emerging diseases occurring in the Western hemisphere. Approximately 150,000 to 200,000 cases of HFRS are hospitalized each year world wide, with most of the cases occurring in the developing countries. The case fatality rate of HFRS varies from <1% to 12% depending on the viruses. Although HPS is much smaller in number than HFRS, with approximately 200 HPS cases per year in the Americas, the average case fatality rate is 40%. The reported cases of hantaviral infection is increasing in many countries and new hantavirus strains have been increasingly identified worldwide, which constitutes a public health problem of increasing global concern. Hantaviral infection might be underestimated due to its asymptomatic and nonspecific mild infection, and the lack of simple standardized laboratory diagnostics in hospitals, especially in the developing countries. This review summarizes the current knowledge on virology, epidemiology, clinical manifestation, laboratory diagnostics, treatment and prevention of hantaviruses and hantaviral infections.
